Santomenna

So some of you might be asking why Santomenna?  Why a remote, sleepy, little town in the mountains off the Amalfi Coast?  What did Santomenna ever do to you?

Santomenna is the village where Omar's mother was born.  She lived there until she was almost 10 years old and then immigrated to America.  Omar still has family there -- an uncle Francesco, his wife, and a few cousins -- though in a town that small almost everyone is related somehow.

When we were thinking about getting married we knew we wanted to have the wedding somewhere special, and Santomenna immediately came to mind -- well, and Iceland, but that's a story for another time.

For the curious among you, check back here for random bits of information about Santomenna and the surrounding area.  In the meantime, enjoy the site!

Can't wait to see you there!

Trivia and Random Bits of Information:

Did you know that Santomenna is named after Saint Menas, a Egyptian, Chrsitian martyr who lived in the
3rd Century AD?  For more information on St. Menas, click here.

Historians believe that the Italian village of Santomenna was first settled by Roman soldiers, most likey Christian converts, who had served in the Egyptian campaigns and either were contempories of St. Menas or knew of his story.

The Hotel

While only an hour and a half from the Amalfi Coast, Santomenna is located in the mountains of Campagna.

Given the relative remoteness of the location there are only a few hotels to choose from. We have painstakingly visited each of them and have chosen the finest one.

We have already booked the entire hotel so that everyone, for the convenience and pleasure of our guests, can stay together.

Your RSVP will book your room.

The hotel is drop dead beautiful and is located on a natural sulfur spring favored by the ancient Romans who visited the area. Click here for what this means.
